UGAM’s founders are deeply rooted in material science. The lead founder honed their skills in thin-film technology while in Japan. Back in Taiwan, they applied this knowledge to motorcycle helmet visors and lenses.
After leaving their mark on the technology landscape, they grew restless with the well-worn path of Taiwan’s OEM model. “In our 40s, we felt it was time to use our expertise to create something meaningful, not just earn a paycheck,” the founder explains. This decision sparked both personal growth and innovations in optical film technology.
UGAM’s early days were challenging, with limited resources and unclear direction. They explored various opportunities, even presenting at ski gear exhibitions. “Often, our business cards went unnoticed at booths. But we believed that persistence would lead us to the right connections,” recalls the founder. This determination became the cornerstone of their business journey.
UGAM’s anti-fog technology stems from specialized material research conducted by the founder in Japan. The focus on anti-fog solutions was driven by frequent user complaints about helmet lens fogging, particularly in rainy conditions. Despite its apparent simplicity, the problem required advanced material science to solve effectively.
The company developed high-performance anti-fog films that can disperse fog within 30 seconds, significantly enhancing motorcycle rider safety. This technology’s applications extend beyond motorcycle helmets, finding use in ski goggles and other products, demonstrating its broad applicability and effectiveness across various fields.
